| Wildfires in California and MM5 Regional Forecasts
Welcome. This website has research products to monitor the potential of wildfires as well as regional numerical weather forecasts for California. Real-time numerical weather forecasts are performed with the Pennsylvania State University/ National Center for Atmospheric Research (PSU/NCAR), Mesoscale Model MM5-V3. This project is currently maintained by a Cooperative Agreement between ICESS/UCSB and Riverside Fire Lab (USDA-FS). Please read the Disclaimer before proceeding. The UCSB Southern California Wildfire Hazard Center has also several products of interest for wildfire monitoring and their impacts on landscape and ecology. Official weather forecasts can be seen at the Oxnard/LA National Weather Service Office DISCLAIMER. The numerical weather forecasts displayed in this site are part of a research project. It is understood that the information contained here is for research purposes ONLY and should be used with caution. The forecasts are obtained with numerical models and may be inaccurate and contain errors. No interpretation of the numerical forecasts are provided in this website. SBARC, ICESS, UCSB and other participating members in the project are not responsible for injury or damage incurred with any use or misinterpretation of these forecasts.
