Painted Cave Fire

During the Painted Cave Fire on 27 June 1990, intense Sundowner Winds were observed in the Santa Barbara area, which posed a significant role in the wildfire hazard. The links below show animations of Meridional Wind Circulation (i.e. in the North/South direction), Temperature, Mixing Ratio and Potential Temperature. The animations are for a vertical plane in the North/South direction along the Santa Barbara (see the cross section here). Vertical coordinate is pressure (mb).
