Biographical Information
Zhengming Wan was awarded a Ph.D. in Geography from University of
California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) in 1985. He joined UCSB in 1989 and
has been a member of the MODIS Science Team for the past 10 years. He was
a Guest Computational Investigator of the NASA High Performance Computing
and Communications Science Team from 1993 to 1997. He has published research
materials directly relevant to the thermal infrared remote sensing, and
has over 20 refereed publications.
MODIS Research Area
"Land Surface Temperature Measurements from EOS MODIS Data"
MODIS data will be used for providing global daytime and nighttime land surface
temperatures (LST) and emissivities averaged in seven MODIS TIR bands.
Key research issues involve the development of MODIS LST algorithms
through surface TIR modeling and accurate atmospheric radiative transfer
simulations, assessment of its quality, and validation of the LST
accuracy with ground-based and airborne measurement data.
