As you all know, we lost an esteemed colleague to a hard-fought battle against breast cancer on September 30th. A celebration of the life of Leal Mertes is planned for December 10th (please see message below from her husband, Jim). Leal was an integral part of ICESS and her contributions, creativity, and intelligence will be missed. Please feel free to share this notice with others who knew Leal.

A celebration of Leal Mertes' life will be held on Saturday December 10 at 11am at the University Club of Santa Barbara (1332 Santa Barbara Street, Santa Barbara, CA). All friends, family and colleagues are invited. An informal reception will follow. I am getting the word by this means because I know people have been eager to learn the time and place.
