Digital Elevation Models
 

Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) are digital representations of topography. DEMs are used to determine slope and aspect for fire spread modeling. DEMs are also used by the MM5 and diagnostic wind models to calculate meteorological parameters. Below is an example of a USGS 30-meter DEM of the Santa Monica Mountains.
