Vegetation Maps
 

Vegetation maps can be made using hyperspectral Airborne Visible InfraRed Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS) data. Multiple Endmember Spectral Mixture Analysis, or MESMA, allows pure spectra from a regionally-specific spectral library to vary on a per pixel basis. The Southern California regional library contains 764 spectra of vegetation, soil, rock and urban surfaces. Below is a vegetation species map of the central Santa Monica Mountains.
