Research on the Earth's Crust: My Ph.D. research concentrated on the use of seismic reflection data to image crustal structures related to plate tectonics. The following links detail some of this work.
Magsat Crustal Anomalies of Tibet This is work that I've done with Doug Nelson. The paper is published in Geology.
Upper Mantle Fabric beneath the High Himalaya mountains. Interestingly, this upper mantle fabric has an orientation that is parallel to the fast direction of polarization inferred from shear wave splitting. Paper is published in JGR.
Crustal Structure of the Lhasa Terrane from the INDEPTH seismic reflection profiles. Our interpretation of the reflection data suggests that Tibet has formed largely from internal shortening, rather than underthrusting by India. Paper is published in Tectonics.
Crustal Structure in Syria. We use oil industry seismic reflection profiles to interpret the tectonic history of the Euphrates graben. Paper is published in Annali di Geofisica.
