Figure Caption. These SAR backscatter intensity images were taken before (left) and after (right) the Gjalp subglacial eruption beneath Vatnajokull icecap.  The "shadow" effect of radar backscatter shows a trench and ice cauldron that formed in the ice as a result of the eruption.  Click on the back button and check out the interferometric SAR topography and ice velocity changes.
