Scatterometry: Scatterometry is closely related to SAR, in fact, the ERS 1 and 2 platforms both have scatterometers. Although scatterometry is almost exclusively used for determining wind velocities across the ocean, the data are available over the land. However, the footprint is huge, typically on the order of 25 to 50 KILOmeters. The tradeoff with the low spatial resolution is a high temperoral resolution; typical repeat cycles are on the order of 1 week or so. The software in this directory is written exclusively for extracting the ERS 1 and 2 scatterometer data over land (although you can also extract the values over the oceans, as well). The code will also make a lat long gridded data set using the nearest neighbor to a given grid node.
Scatterometry Applications: These are programs
that I've written (based on ESA's reading routines) for creating two dimensional
arrays of scatterometer data. WNF_MAKEGRID is a script that shows
the processing order.
